Necklace/Net is a collection of intuitively laced necklaces formed in the likeness of a fishing net. I’m constructing this sparkling net from anonymous jewelry bought in bulk mystery hauls online. Other pieces were spontaneously found, handed down, or sentimentally kept. This is a personal sculpture inspired by three generations of women in my family keeping seashells in their jewelry boxes. It’s also inspired by the Buddhist cosmological metaphor of Indra’s Net-- an image that proposes that consciousness itself is an immense net with a jewel at every intersection representing each individual. Finally, it is influenced by the mentality of disaster prepping, survival books, fishing lures, and emotional entanglement.
